Lake Siskiyou
The town's swimming hole, paddleboard launch, and summer anchor. A 430-acre glacial lake five minutes from downtown with the mountain visible across the water.

Swim, Paddle, Cast, Repeat
Cradled at the foot of Mount Shasta just minutes from town, Lake Siskiyou is the area's premier spot to get on — and in — the water, with the mountain mirrored across its surface on a calm morning. A sandy day-use beach makes it easy to spend a lazy afternoon swimming in clear, surprisingly mild water, while the lake's no-wake rule keeps things calm and ideal for kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and gliding out toward the Wagon Creek footbridge for a photo. In summer, kayak, paddleboard, and pedal boat rentals are available right at the lake, and kids gravitate to the floating water playground just offshore — an inflatable obstacle course that's obviously the highlight of their day.
Anglers do well here too: the lake is regularly stocked and holds rainbow, brown, and brook trout along with bass, making it an easy place to drop a line or teach someone their first cast. It's a short, scenic drive from the Inn, and one of the easiest ways to turn a warm day into a memorable one.
If you're interested in staying dry, here's our intro to the Lake Siskiyou Trail that rings the lake.
