Lake Siskiyou Trail
A scenic, mostly-flat loop circling Lake Siskiyou with Mount Shasta mirrored across the water — walk it, run it, bike it, or bring the dog.

A Loop for Every Pace and Season
The Lake Siskiyou Trail is one of the most beloved and versatile outings in the Mount Shasta area — a roughly 6.5-mile loop that circles the lake almost entirely on flat, easy terrain, with the mountain reflected across the water nearly the whole way. What makes it special is how many ways there are to enjoy it. Walkers, runners, and cyclists all share the path, leashed dogs are welcome, and because paved sections make much of it stroller- and wheelchair-friendly, it genuinely works for every age and ability.
Several trailheads and parking areas ring the lake, so you can commit to the full circuit or simply stroll a scenic stretch and turn back. Along the route you'll cross the iconic Wagon Creek suspension bridge, pass Box Canyon Dam, and move between shady forest and wide-open lake views.
The trail is open year-round and rewarding in every season, from summer swims and shaded afternoons to crisp, quiet winter walks, though note that the seasonal bridges across the north-end inlet are typically in place only from late spring through fall. Outside those months the north shore becomes an out-and-back rather than a complete loop. However you approach it, it's an easy, scenic way to spend time beneath Mount Shasta.
If you're looking to get wet, here's our intro to the activities in Lake Siskiyou itself.
