Accommodations Built for Both Ends of the Leash
Our property is designed to be a breath of fresh air for you and your pup, starting right on the grounds. We feature a large central lawn built specifically for morning stretches and afternoon zoomies, alongside a dedicated, clean pet relief area. When it is time to wind down, our spacious lawn features seasonal cornhole games and a communal fire pit running from dusk until 10:00 PM, giving everyone a comfortable spot to settle in for the evening. Inside, our designated pet-friendly traditional double queen rooms and suites provide a generous 325+ square feet of floor space, giving your dog actual room to stretch out rather than a tight sliver between the bed and the wall. Each room also includes a mini-fridge and microwave to keep treats fresh, alongside genuinely fast WiFi for stream-lined relaxation after a long day outdoors.
We believe in straightforward, transparent pricing for animal lovers. We welcome up to two dogs per room, up to 85 pounds each, for a flat fee of $25 per night, per room—not per dog. Because these specialized rooms are limited and fill up quickly, particularly during the busy summer season, registering your pet at the time of booking is required. Simply select the pet option when booking online so our team can ensure your basecamp is perfectly clean and prepared for your arrival; please note that unregistered pets are subject to additional fees. As always, certified service animals are welcome across the entire property with no added fees and no restrictions.
Hitting the Dirt: Local Trails and Waterways
The surrounding Shasta-Trinity National Forest is an absolute paradise for pups, and most trails in the Mount Shasta region warmly welcome leashed dogs. Just five minutes from our front doors, Lake Siskiyou stands as the ultimate summer destination for water-loving dogs. The flat, heavily shaded loop trails tracing the perimeter offer wide paths and moderate terrain that perfectly suit almost any dog’s fitness level. Even better, the lake features beautiful stretches of open shoreline where dogs are completely free to wade and swim while you take in the panoramic views of the mountain reflecting across the water. For travelers seeking a more ambitious alpine trek, driving up to the high-elevation trailheads at Bunny Flat and Panther Meadows opens up crisp forest pathways filled with the kind of rich mountain scents that dogs consider a total sensory adventure.
If you are looking for a shorter trek paired with spectacular scenery, the area boasts incredible waterfall hikes that welcome four-legged explorers. Situated twenty minutes away in the historic Ney Springs area, Faery Falls is a delicate cascade completely surrounded by vibrant moss and lush ferns. The trail is relatively short, though the canyon terrain near the water can get damp, so sturdy footwear with dependable grip is highly recommended. It is a wonderfully quiet alternative to the high-traffic trails, flowing strongest during the peak of spring snowmelt. Another fantastic option is Hedge Creek Falls, located just twelve minutes south of the Inn in Dunsmuir. This easy, twenty-minute round-trip hike leads down to a stunning thirty-foot waterfall where the trail safely loops entirely behind the curtain of rushing water.
While the region is immensely welcoming to pets, it is incredibly important to note that dogs are strictly prohibited on any of the wilderness trails within Castle Crags State Park, which includes the Root Creek Trail. We always recommend double-checking local forest regulations before mapping out a brand-new route.
Exploring Downtown and Dog-Friendly Dining
The town of Mount Shasta is highly walkable, exceptionally relaxed, and genuinely accustomed to seeing four-legged companions out and about. By design, we do not serve breakfast at the Inn because our community’s independent culinary scene is far too good to compete with, and we love sending our guests out to experience it firsthand. For a quick morning coffee and breakfast run to jumpstart your day, Seven Suns and Drizzle are our team's absolute go-to patio stops. If you prefer a tasty, sit-down meal nearby, Lily’s is a local staple featuring a gorgeous, fully enclosed outdoor garden patio where leashed dogs are greeted warmly while you enjoy a diverse menu that easily satisfies any appetite.
When afternoon or evening rolls around, you have plenty of excellent local options where your dog can tag along. The Mount Shasta Craft House is a fantastic neighborhood hub for artisanal pizzas, great burgers, and a great rotating selection of regional craft taps on their outdoor seating area. Pipeline Craft Taps & Kitchen is another easy crowd-pleaser, serving up gourmet burgers alongside a massive craft beer selection for the adults on a comfortable, covered patio. Finally, if your crew is craving excellent, authentic Mexican food, Casa Ramos offers a wonderfully welcoming atmosphere and a great patio space that handles dinner with your pup perfectly.
Before You Arrive
To ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for all travelers on the property, we ask that you keep your dog leashed at all times when moving through the common areas, and always clean up after them on the grounds. If you ever find yourself needing a little extra help during your stay—whether you are looking for specific trail conditions, a recommendation for a local vet, or the best designated off-leash areas nearby—our front desk team is fully staffed around the clock. Our team lives right here in the community, handles these trails daily, and knows exactly which spots are currently clear and open.
We've created a dedicated pet page with dog-relevant details about our rooms, our grounds, and a guide to local, pet-friendly activities.
If you have any lingering questions about bringing your dog along for the adventure, please feel free to call or text us at any time at (530) 918-9292, or email us directly at guestservices@innatmountshasta.com.
